L.R. Costanzo Company Inc., headquartered in Scranton, PA, is pleased to announce the 60TH Anniversary of the Costanzo family’s construction business.
The roots of the business can be traced back to the mid-1940’s when stone masons Anthony F. Costanzo and his son, Louis, formed the A.F. Costanzo Company and began working on civil projects such as highways, bridges and community flood protection.
Their reputation for integrity and dependability quickly spread across the Pennsylvania region and enabled them to garner early projects such as the Hornell Flood Protection and the Archbald Pothole State Park Facilities.
The business continued to grow, and in 1967 the company name was changed to L.R. Costanzo Company, Inc. Shortly thereafter, the third generation of the Costanzo family joined the firm, with Louis A. Costanzo in 1969 and his brother
Anthony L. Costanzo in 1970.
The family business prospered throughout the 1970’s and 1980’s with the company expanding into the field of new building construction. During this period, the L.R. Costanzo Company won an award for the University of Scranton’s Harper McGuiness Building project. Other notable projects of the time included the Historic Iron Furnaces in Scranton and the restoration of Marywood University’s historic stone entrance arch.
Throughout the 1990’s, L.R. Costanzo Company continued to diversify. The company expanded from offering traditional construction services to performing pharmaceutical, financial and fine finishing work. Major projects marked this transition, including the Serology Laboratories at Pasteur Merrieux Connaught in Swiftwater, the construction and renovation of financial institutions such as PNC Bank and Prudential Securities and the historic renovations of the Governor Pinchot Mansion at Grey Towers in Milford, Pennsylvania.
The turn of the century brought continued growth for the L.R. Costanzo Company. Historic renovations reached new levels with the ongoing restoration at Pennsylvania’s Capitol Complex in Harrisburg.
The company’s transformation from a small masonry team to a regional construction leader is evident in the portfolio of projects completed each year. This dedication to ongoing development is reflected in the awards the company has earned; including those for fostering community progress, workplace safety, business innovation and craftsmanship.
With the addition of the fourth generation of the Costanzo family in 2002, the L.R. Costanzo Company and the Costanzo family’s construction heritage continues to flourish today.
For more than 60 years, the Costanzo family’s construction business has served as a leading provider of construction services in the Northeastern, South Central and Southeastern Pennsylvania areas. The L.R. Costanzo Company is guided by their mission to complete every project by the principals of quality, integrity, strong performance and concern for the client’s objectives.
