Diocese of Scranton - Cathedral Prayer Garden

A stately brick and limestone gate marks the Prayer Garden's entrance. Once inside the park, visitors are greeted by granite Rosary beads titled Faith, Hope and Love set into the paved ring of the Garden. The rest of the Rosary surrounds a central landscaped area with a cross set into the ground. Five brick and limestone kiosks bear plaques dedicated to each of the four Mysteries.

At the eastern side of the Garden, L.R. Costanzo constructed a limestone Marian Wall - a tribute to the many ethnic and traditional titles by which the Virgin Mary is known. L.R. Costanzo landscaped the remainder of the Garden to provide a lush backdrop for its elements and a tranquil setting for visitors.

For L.R. Costanzo's outstanding workmanship and contributions to the project, the Diocese of Scranton received the Pride & Progress Award for the Cathedral Prayer Garden by the Greater Scranton Chamber of Commerce.
