Woolworth Development Company, LLC - The Woolworth Building
Description: Until its closing in 1990, the Woolworth Company occupied this building. As part of the recent Renaissance in downtown Scranton, L.R. Costanzo was called upon to perform extensive renovations and restorations to convert this historic retail location to Class A office space. The high-profile nature of this project caught the public’s eye; after its completion, the Woolworth Building received the Scranton Chamber of Commerce’s Pride & Progress Award.

Eclectic concepts makes this project unique by blending modern elements with historic features from the original Woolworth Building. The lobby’s contemporary floating stainless steel panels and frameless glass compliment the structure’s original historic plaster moldings, stainless steel accents and grand staircase; which were restored by L.R. Costanzo.

In addition to the historical elements of this project, L.R. Costanzo performed structural upgrades and repairs. The project also included the installation of new elevators as well as new mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire suppression systems.
