L.R. Costanzo Co., Inc. Builds New Corporate Headquarters

For over 80 years, L.R. Costanzo Co., Inc. (LRC) has been a proud, multi-generation, family-owned business deeply committed to our local community. When the time came to find a new home, we envisioned a space that reflects our values—innovation, collaboration, and care for our team—while embracing the natural beauty surrounding us.

From Scranton to Scenic Surroundings

Our previous location in a busy urban area offered limited daylight, with few windows and buildings on both sides. Today, our new headquarters is surrounded by nature on all four sides. We designed the building to pull the outdoors in, using expansive windows to flood interior spaces with natural light. Visibility to the outside significantly increased, creating a bright, inspiring environment for our team.

Design Goals

The goal was clear: create a space that balances privacy and collaboration. The new headquarters features private offices and multiple meeting spaces, complemented by amenities that promote team building and well-being, including a lunchroom lounge, open deck, walking trail, and configurable training rooms. Every detail was considered to make this a workplace that is not only functional but also inviting and future-ready, since we expect to grow our employee base.

Enhanced Collaboration & Technology

Meeting spaces were scaled up for functionality and equipped with advanced collaborative technology. Automated camera systems and integrated audio visual solutions ensure seamless communication, whether in offices, training rooms or conference areas.

Architectural Highlights

Metal elements provide an industrial sophistication, defined by clean lines and structural strength. Expansive glass walls flood interiors with natural light, creating openness and a seamless connection to the outdoors. Stone grounds the design, adding warmth and texture that balance the sleekness of metal and glass, while providing visual depth and a tactile richness to the façade.

  • Red wing-style overhanging canopies for a striking exterior profile
  • Full-height curtain wall system with floor-to-ceiling glass for natural light
  • Exposed structural steel elements and architectural finishes that blend interior and exterior aesthetics
  • Wood slat ceiling system for warmth and acoustic performance

Interior Features

  • Individual offices with sliding glass doors offering a 42 sound transmission class rating (STC) —providing privacy while maintaining outdoor views
  • Personalized office temperatures and ergonomically designed furniture for comfort
  • A modern lunchroom lounge with multiple seating options, high-end appliances, and entertainment features
  • Power and Wi-Fi access on the outdoor deck for flexible workspaces
  • Walking trail to encourage health and wellness

President Louis E. Costanzo states, “From day one, our goal was simple: create a space that feels like home for every member of the LRC family. We wanted each person who walks through these doors to feel valued and inspired, so we focused on the details that matter—comfortable workstations, break areas filled with natural light, and inviting spaces for collaboration. Little touches like quiet nooks, casual meeting spots, and an outdoor deck for fresh air all come together to make this more than just a workplace. It’s a place where people can connect, recharge, and thrive—because at LRC, caring for our team and clients is at the heart of everything we do.”

According to Senior Project Manager Benjamin Washington, “The Company went out of its way and truly thought of everything to make this space feel like a home away from home. Our new headquarters takes comfort and functionality to the next level—beyond what everyone needs, delivering what they want and more. From personalized office environments to collaborative spaces and outdoor amenities, it’s a workplace designed for people.”

This design-build project for L.R. Costanzo Co., Inc. exemplifies how thoughtful planning, innovative solutions, and precise execution can transform an existing structure into a modern, architectonic headquarters. By overcoming complex challenges—such as integrating new structural elements with existing conditions and maintaining operations during construction—the team delivered a space that balances functionality, collaboration, and aesthetic appeal. The result is a progressive workplace designed for growth, team building, and a seamless connection to the outdoors.
