Hotel Fauchere
PROJECT
Founded in 1852 by New York’s Delmonico’s Chef Louis Fauchere, this hotel has served many distinguished guests including Andrew Carnegie, Robert Frost, Henry Ford and three U.S. Presidents. L.R. Costanzo’s work on the Hotel Fauchere was a careful balance between historic restoration and the addition of modern comforts.
CHALLENGES
- Deteriorated foundation
- Expansion of basement for bar and food service
- Connection to adjoining Emerson House
- Extension of porch on side of hotel
- New plumbing, exhaust ductwork and electrical throughout without the addition of chases
SOLUTIONS
- Shored up structure and rebuilt foundations
- Shored up front porch while excavating for basement expansion
- Tunneled to adjoining Emerson House to serve a hotel’s event facility with connection to food and bar service
- Replicated original building elements including window and door casings, and the main staircase handrail
- Replicated and reconstructed the new wrap-around porch

- All guest rooms include LCD TV, WiFi, heated bathroom floors, heated towel bars and Carrara marble baths and vanities
- Innovative HVAC high velocity duct system
- New kitchen and equipment

- Restoration of historic water fountain
