Pike County Maintenance Facility
Project
Located on approximately 14 acres, this expansive project included the construction of 10 new buildings and structures. An asphalt paved parking area was also completed to accommodate 73 visitor and staff vehicles and 22 plow trucks.
Challenges
- Completing site development and concrete while working through inclement weather
- Coordinating multiple parties that were not contractual with L.R. Costanzo
- Managing overall site logistics, schedule and procurement
Solutions
- Generated temporary measures to allow work to continue through winter months and maintained strict quality guidelines established in the project specifications
- Emphasized communication and held weekly meetings to monitor progress
- Implemented safety and security measures to contain site
Construction Details
- Cleared 13 acre wooded lot and removed over 38,000 tons of top soil and root-mat
- Install 4 underground detention chambers and 2 large above ground detention ponds for storm water retention
- Formed and poured concrete foundations, slabs on grade, and exterior buttress walls
- Installed a building with a mix of conventional steel and PEMB
- Installed a 5 ton crane and 2 truck lifts
- Installed standing seam roofs and metals siding
