PROJECT
The Woolworth Company occupied this structure with one of its renowned department stores until 1990. As part of the downtown Scranton Renaissance, L.R. Costanzo performed extensive renovations and historic restoration converting this retail location to Class A office space.
CHALLENGES
- Preservation of original historic decorative plaster moldings
- Restoration of the stainless steel storefront facade
SOLUTIONS
- Installation of protective scaffolding
- Cleaned, polished and repaired stainless steel in-place; damaged stainless was re-fabricated to meet historic specifications
